Enagás is certified as an independent TSO by the European Union and, moreover, it is the Technical Manager of the System in Spain. Pursuant to Royal Decree-Law 8/2023, of 27 December, Enagás may operate as provisional Hydrogen Transmission Network Operator (HTNO).

A benchmark TSO in Europe

Enagás has been certified by the European Commission as an independent Transmission System Operator (TSO) since August 2012. This certification guarantees the independence of the Spanish gas transmission network from gas producers and shippers.

Provisional hydrogen transmission network operator

Royal Decree-Law 8/2023 of 27 December provides that Enagás, as manager of the natural gas transmission network, may operate as provisional hydrogen transmission network operator.

Carbon neutrality commitment

Enagás is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2040. To this end, we have outlined a decarbonisation pathway with emission reduction targets aligned with the 1.5ºC temperature increase scenario.

 

Our sustainability roadmap is based on:

  • Decarbonisation of the company’s infrastructure
  • Decarbonisation of the gas sector
  • Offsetting of residual emissions
