  • Enagás has scored 87 points in the S&P Global assessment, two points higher than last year, and is among the best performing companies in its sector

Enagás has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index World (DJSI), the world’s leading sustainability index, for the seventeenth consecutive year. This is according to the results published today, which refer to the last assessment on 25 October.

Enagás increased its score by two points compared to the previous year (87 out of 100), achieving one of the highest scores in its sector and placing it among the most sustainable Gas Utilities companies. Enagás obtained the highest possible score (100 points) in Transparency and reporting; Materiality; Environmental policy and management systems, and Community engagement.

These results are recognition of Enagás’ commitment to decarbonisation, a key element of the Sustainability Roadmap of the company’s Strategic Plan. The setting of ambitious emission reduction targets, as well as the commitment to the development of infrastructures for the transmission and storage of green hydrogen and other renewable gases, are key elements in its strategy to become carbon neutral by 2040.

In addition, in the area of social and corporate governance, the company has presented its Digital Transformation Plan 2024-2026, which through a coordinated vision and the development of transversal initiatives, makes it possible to promote the internal transformation and cultural change of the company, with a focus on digitalisation and people.

Enagás is strongly committed to people, to preserving jobs and to its Diversity and Inclusion Policy. In this regard, the company already has 40% of women on its Board of Directors and Executive Committee and will continue to make progress in terms of diversity and equal opportunities at all organisational levels of the company.

Each year, the ‘S&P Global Sustainable1’ subsidiary evaluates the 2,500 largest companies in the S&P Global Broad Market Index, and after a rigorous analysis process, only the top 10% of companies with the best sustainability performance are included in the index.

Leadership in sustainability

This recognition reinforces Enagás’ leadership in sustainability. The company has the highest ESG rating in its sector in the FTSE4Good sustainability index and, in 2023, was included in CDP Climate Change’s A List.

In addition, and as a benchmark company in people management, it has recently renewed the Equality badge awarded by the Ministry of Equality, it has the highest level of excellence (A+) in the work-life balance certification as a family responsible company by the Más Familia Foundation, and has been identified as one of the best companies to work for by Top Employer Spain.

Enagás has also obtained AENOR’s Good Corporate Governance certification for the first time in 2024.
