The CEO of Enagás, Arturo Gonzalo, and the President of ClosinGap and President of Merck Healthcare in Europe, Marieta Jiménez, met today on the occasion of Enagás joining ClosinGap, an association that aims to boost economic growth by promoting gender equality
During the meeting at Enagás headquarters, Arturo Gonzalo emphasised the importance of actively participating in this association to jointly promote and accelerate social transformation towards a gender-gap-free economy. He also highlighted the need to “continue advancing public-private collaboration to tackle even more ambitious challenges related to including female talent, particularly in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), which have a significant economic and social impact”.
Marieta Jiménez added that “we continue to bring on strategic allies to address gender gaps with a rigorous and transformative approach. Our priority is not only to measure the cost of inequality but also to collaborate closely with leading companies like Enagás to develop solutions that enhance equal opportunities and bolster competitiveness and social progress”

Since its launch in 2018 and foundation as a non-profit organisation in 2023, ClosinGap has focused on increasing the inclusion of women in order to promote economic growth and the competitiveness of companies. It analyses the economic costs of gender inequality and helps to design measures to close this gap and promote equal opportunities. With the addition of Enagás, ClosinGap now comprises 14 major companies operating in Spain and 3 collaborating partners.
By joining, Enagás takes another step forward in its endeavour to promote a quality work environment based on diversity and equality, which are core values of the company and drivers of economic growth.
Enagás' collaboration with ClosinGap will focus on supporting the association's initiatives to promote economic growth through gender equality. In addition, Enagás will carry out an analysis of the opportunity cost of the gender gap in the energy transition, in line with the company's Diversity and Inclusion policy.
Enagás is one of the five Spanish companies that are among the 100 best in the world in terms of gender equality. This is according to the Gender Equality Report & Ranking 2024, produced by Equileap, a company dedicated to promoting gender equality, diversity and inclusion in the corporate world. Enagás has held the Equality in the Company Distinction for gender equality since 2010 and the Bequal Seal since 2013, in recognition of its commitment to the social inclusion of people with disabilities.
