Demand for natural gas in Spain grew by 13% in September compared to the same month last year, to reach 26,153 GWh, the highest September values in the last five years.
Conventional demand, destined for home, commercial and industrial consumption, broke its September record, with growth of about 5% achieved through rising demand in the domestic sector (5%) and industrial sector (5.4%). Increased consumption was reported in all industrial sectors, particularly in construction and metallurgy.
Natural gas demand for power generation ended the month of September with growth of 44% compared to the same month last year, reaching 7,085 GWh.
In the year to date, natural gas demand in Spain has risen by more than 9% compared to the same period in 2016, as a result of growth in conventional demand (4.5%) and deliveries of natural gas for power generation (approximately 33%). Industrial demand is also growing by about 7%.
