The Director of Sectoral and Multilateral Representation of Enagás and President of the ECE United Nations Gas Experts Group, Francisco de la Flor, has pointed out at the Conference of the Parties (COP29) held in Baku (Azerbaijan) from 11 to 22 November, that Spain has a very relevant strategic role due to its potential to become a European hub for green hydrogen.
De la Flor stressed that H2med, as the EU’s first renewable hydrogen corridor, will be crucial in accelerating the energy transition, linking the hydrogen production valleys of the Iberian Peninsula with the industrial centres of Europe.
During his contribution to the panel Energy transition acceleration via stakeholder engagement in deploying & financing renewable gases, the Director of Sectoral and Multilateral Representation of Enagás also highlighted the importance of the H2med Call for Interest as an example of collaboration between four countries and five TSOs (REN in Portugal; Enagás in Spain; GRTgaz and Teréga in France and OGE in Germany) to develop a pan-European corridor.
The Director of Sectoral and Multilateral Representation of Enagás also participated in the panel Industrial Decarbonisation: electrification, renewable hydrogen and energy storage, where he explained that Spain is one of the most advanced countries in the EU in the development of green hydrogen, being one of the first to start the implementation of the European Directive on Hydrogen and Decarbonised Gases.
